Terms of Service

1. Definitions

In these terms:

• "Service" means the StarsAPI platform — the website, APIs, dashboards, documentation, AI astrologer products, and any related tools provided at starsapi.com or its subdomains.
• "You", "your", "customer" means the individual or legal entity accessing the Service.
• "We", "us", "StarsAPI" means the operator of the Service.
• "API Key" means the credential issued to you for authenticating requests against the Service.
• "End User" means an individual who interacts with your application that consumes the Service.

2. Account & eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. By creating an account you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the authority to bind the entity (if any) on whose behalf you are signing up.

You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, including all use of your API Key. Treat your API Key like a password — don't commit it to public repositories, don't share it with people who shouldn't have it, and rotate it immediately if you suspect it has been exposed.

3. Service description

StarsAPI provides programmatic access to astrological computations, AI astrologer interactions, white-label PDF report generation, and supporting utilities such as location geocoding and timezone resolution. The Service is provided "as is" and we make no guarantee that any specific endpoint or feature will remain available, though we will give reasonable notice of material breaking changes.

3.1 Calculation accuracy

Numerical calculations (planetary positions, dasha periods, divisional charts, etc.) are produced using the Swiss Ephemeris underlying algorithms and are independently verifiable. While we take great care to ensure accuracy, we do not warrant that every output is free from errors or suitable for any specific purpose. Always validate critical outputs against an independent reference.

3.2 AI-generated content

Our AI astrologer products generate text and voice content based on real chart computations. AI outputs are not professional advice — not medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice — and should not be relied upon for decisions that have real consequences in those areas. End Users should consult qualified professionals for those domains. You agree to surface this disclaimer appropriately within your application.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Resell raw access to the Service without a valid reseller arrangement with us;
• Build a product whose primary purpose is to make medical, legal, financial, or psychiatric diagnoses or recommendations;
• Generate content that targets minors with adult themes, sexualised content, or that grooms, manipulates, or isolates minors;
• Generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or that incites violence or hatred;
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service;
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission;
• Interfere with the integrity or performance of the Service, including by attempting to circumvent rate limits, abuse the free tier, or exhaust account credits through automated abuse;
• Use the Service to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates this section, with or without notice depending on severity.

5. Plans & billing

5.1 Subscription plans

The Service is offered on subscription plans described on the pricing page. Plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle, depending on the plan you select. Pricing is in US dollars unless otherwise stated. Taxes (GST, VAT, sales tax) are added at checkout where applicable.

5.2 Wallet credits & usage

Some products — including AI astrologer turns and PDF report generations — are metered against wallet credits or per-use allowances included in your plan. Unused credits do not roll over to subsequent billing periods unless explicitly stated. We may suspend AI/report endpoints when your wallet is exhausted; chart-computation endpoints continue to work within plan limits.

5.3 Free tier

The free tier is provided in good faith for evaluation, prototyping, and small personal projects. We reserve the right to rate-limit, throttle, or terminate accounts that abuse the free tier — including operating multiple free accounts to bypass paid-plan limits.

5.4 Renewals

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.

5.5 Refunds

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

6. Intellectual property

6.1 Our IP

The Service, including its source code, documentation, designs, trademarks, and the structure and organisation of API responses, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service in accordance with these terms.

6.2 Your IP

You retain all rights to content you submit to the Service (such as birth data, user details, or natural-language prompts). You grant us a limited licence to process this content for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you.

6.3 Third-party attributions

Astrological calculations use the Swiss Ephemeris, developed by Astrodienst AG. Use of the Service does not transfer any rights to the Swiss Ephemeris to you. Geographic data is derived from open-source databases including GeoNames; their licence terms apply where relevant.

7. Data & privacy

Our handling of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

8. End Users

If you operate an application that interacts with End Users (a consumer astrology app, for example), you are responsible for your relationship with those End Users. You must have your own terms of service and privacy policy that comply with applicable law. You may not represent that End Users have a direct relationship with StarsAPI.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Astrological interpretations — whether generated by AI or implied by chart calculations — are provided for informational and entertainment purposes. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice. We expressly disclaim any liability for decisions made on the basis of astrological outputs.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total cumulative liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.

In no event shall we be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any third-party claim arising out of your use of the Service in breach of these terms, your applications, your relationship with End Users, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately for material breach of these terms, fraudulent activity, non-payment, or as required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification) will survive.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify active accounts by email. Continued use of the Service after the change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Delhi, India. If you are based outside India and a different mandatory law applies to your relationship with us, that law applies to the extent it is mandatory.
