Events, not just positions

A longitude is a number. What you can publish is a retrograde that runs until October, an aspect that peaks on Thursday, an eclipse fifty-nine countries will see. Everything comes back with a phrased title, both endpoints of the movement named, the duration counted, and its place in time already labelled.

Is there a Mercury retrograde API for building a tracker?

Yes, and most of the work is already done for you. Each period returns with a phrased title, the station type, the signs and degrees at both ends, exact start and end times, how many days it runs, how many have passed, how many remain, and how far through it we are as a percentage. Your progress bar is filled in before you write any layout code.

Can I get transits to a natal chart with exact dates?

Yes. Send birth details and a date range and you get every transiting planet that aspects a natal position in that window, each with when it enters orb, when it is exact and when it leaves. Telling someone what the sky is doing is a free feature on any site; telling them what it is doing to their own birth chart is the one people subscribe for.

Is there a moon phase API with the current phase and next full moon?

Yes. The current phase comes with its illumination percentage and the exact sign and degree the Moon occupies, along with the timing of what comes next. You can trace an entire lunation from the new moon that began it, or pull cycles forward as far as you need, with everything labelled past, current or upcoming and the days between counted.

Can I find out which countries will see an eclipse?

Yes, and this is unusual in a transit API. Alongside the ordinary eclipse endpoint there is a mundane one returning worldwide visibility — how many countries can see it and which, down to city level, with start, maximum and end times and the total duration. Filter to one country when you only want local coverage. Positions come back in tropical and sidereal at once.

Is there an ephemeris API for daily planetary positions?

Yes — a full month of daily positions in a single response, tropical for Western work and sidereal for Vedic. Ephemeris tables are the kind of evergreen reference page that quietly earns search traffic for years, and generating them beats scanning a printed book.

How accurate are the calculations?

They come from the Swiss Ephemeris, which is what professional astrology software runs on. Positions match the printed reference tables your users will inevitably check them against — and a single degree of disagreement is enough to lose an experienced reader's trust permanently, which is why this is not a place to economise.

Does the API support both tropical and sidereal zodiacs?

Both, and each is a first-class citizen. Fourteen endpoints cover the tropical side in its own right, with Placidus cusps and Western dignity, and fifteen cover sidereal with nakshatras, Parashari drishti and selectable ayanamsa. The two sides mirror each other endpoint for endpoint, so the same call shape serves a reader in Chicago and a reader in Chennai.

Can I get everything coming up in one call for notifications?

Yes. The upcoming endpoint merges sign ingresses, retrograde stations, combustion periods and eclipses into a single feed in date order. Choose a window from a week to a year, filter to the event types you care about, and on the Vedic side fold in ekadashi, purnima and amavasya as well. It exists precisely for the job of deciding what to notify a user about tomorrow.

Can I get transit chart images without drawing them myself?

Yes. A tropical wheel with glyphs, cusps and aspect lines, or North and South Indian squares for Vedic audiences. They are rendered and cached on our side and handed over as a plain image link, so there is no charting library anywhere in your codebase and nothing to maintain when your framework changes.

Do transit calls need birth details or time zone handling?

Only the calls that compare against a birth chart need birth details; everything else is the sky itself and needs nothing personal. Time zones are handled for you — every moment comes back in UTC and local time, you name the zone with a standard identifier, and durations arrive both counted and formatted. That removes the most common source of bugs in any product that talks about when something happens.
